This article discusses the performance of high-frequency emitter followers. Assuming that the current gain is linear, and the form is β (s) = β_0 / (1 + sτ), the equivalent circuit of the emitter follower driving resistor and the capacitive load is derived. The effect of the set-base capacitance is equivalent to some variation of the load. An explanation is provided for the feedback within the emitter follower, which interpretation is helpful in understanding the cause of line instability in some cases. The specific case of driving inductance and load capacitance is analyzed, and a simple expression of stability is deduced, which is useful at high frequencies. The article also discusses the base string RC network compensation technology, and proposed the design of this compensation curve.
