Surname is not negligible part of the language and culture, it is not only the name tag and family logo, but also carries a rich cultural connotation. The author briefly elaborates the origin and historical evolution of surnames and the phenomenon of surname change in the history so as to discuss the rich cultural implication in all stages of social development.
