1926年1月21日,黄埔军校呈请任命包惠僧为教导师党代表。包惠僧是中共一大代表,大革命时期,他积极投身国共合作,在黄埔军校政治部主任、武汉黄埔军校筹备处主任和党军师、团党代表的岗位上均做出了重要贡献。被任命为黄埔军校政治部主任1924年第一次国共合作时期,中共中央决定调中共一大代表包惠僧到广东工作。包惠僧于1924年5月到达广州,以中共党员身份加入国民党,初被戴季陶安排在国民党中央党部担任党员干部训练
