Europeans came to China as early as the Han Dynasty. The Venetian Marco Polo of the Yuan Dynasty traveled to China and wrote the famous Travels of Marco Polo, which had a significant impact in the West and promoted the exchange of Chinese and Western transportation and culture. However, when China officially opened its door to foreign travel, it started after the Second Opium War. During this period, Europeans became forerunners and protagonists of foreigners traveling in China. Now from the collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fonds file, select some of the files to be published for research reference. - Editor Guo Hui
