Objective: To investigate the association between adiponectin gene T45G polymorphism and posttransplant diabetes mellitus. Methods: 398 patients with no history of diabetes before kidney transplantation were divided into diabetic group (PTDM group, n = 97) and non-diabetic group (n = 301) The genotypes of adiponectin gene T45G were genotyped by PCR-RFLP. Results: The frequency of GG genotype in PTDM group was significantly higher than that in control group (13.4% vs.4.6%, P = 0.011). The risk of PTDM after GG genotype was 2.844 and 3.289 times of TT and TG genotype respectively (P <0.01). Conclusion: GG genotype of adiponectin gene T45G is a risk factor of PTDM in renal transplant recipients in China.
