电影音乐是“为电影而创作的音乐,是电影综合艺术中的一个重要组成部分。”[1]在《黄土地》、《人生》、《黄河谣》等影片中,导演和作曲家将陕北民歌与剧情巧妙地结合,既渲染烘托画面的情绪及气氛、塑造人物性格、表现人物思想感情,又参与影片的情节发展,刻画人物复杂的内心矛盾、表现人物之间的外部冲突,是影片结构中不可缺少的组成部分。电影中对陕北民歌的运用有两种模式,一种是原生态陕北民歌,另外一种是创作型陕北民歌:即运用陕北民歌素材创作的具有陕北风格的歌曲。
