Tour guides are the mediators between the tourist subject and the tourist object in the tourism activities. They act as the media between the subject and the object and swim in the public domain that spans one’s own culture and the other country’s culture. This paper proves the dialectical nature of tour guide work and guest location by analyzing the nature of tour guide work, the theme culture and the culture of visitor culture in the cross-cultural tourism context. The tour guide’s case study illustrates the cultural identity of tour guides “international citizens ” who traverse themselves between themselves and others, indigenous and foreign cultures, adapt, experience culture, explain culture, and mediate cultures. The cultural identity of tour guides poses a great challenge to the cultivation of current intercultural communication skills.
