解放以來的三年多期間,有些同志連我也在內,曾經懷疑蘇聯的數學有沒有比美國的好,頂多也不過是差不多。但是,去年大家經過偉大的思想改造運動之後,批判了自己的崇美思想和單純技術觀點,提高了政治覺悟,尤其是這三年多來,許多蘇聯敎授和專家不辭辛勞地來到中國,幫助各種建設和敎學改革,大家方才開始學習蘇聯。毛主席在人民政協第一屆全國委員會第四次會議上所指示我們:「我們不僅要學習馬克思、恩格斯、列寧、史達林的理論,而且要學習蘇聯先進的科學技術。」 During the more than three years since the liberation, some comrades, including myself, have doubted whether Soviet mathematics is better than that of the United States and at most it is only about the same.
