Objective To observe the effect of low-dose Betaloc on the rate-of-heart rate variability during troop warrior emergency training (5km off-road) and to evaluate the regulatory effect of low-dose Betaloc on cardiovascular autonomic nervous system during exercise. Methods Eighty male warriors aged 18-2 2 years were randomly assigned to metoprolol (metoprolol 6.52 mg twice daily for 1 week) and control group (placebo). The blood glucose, blood lactate and plasma catecholamine (E, NE) concentrations were measured before and after exercise. Heart rate variability (HRV) analysis was performed using Holter to record the electrocardiographic signals 10 minutes before exercise, 30 minutes after exercise and 20 minutes after exercise. Results Emergency training significantly increased blood glucose and blood lactate, but there was no significant difference between the two groups after taking betametazole and placebo. Exercise induced a significant increase in plasma E and NE (P <0.01), while in the control group NE was more significant than betaxolol (P <0.05). Both groups had higher LF, LF, HF and HF in exercise. The level of LF in the control group was significantly higher than that in the metoprolol group (191.4 ± 30.8) (b · min 1) 2 / Hz vs. (16 9.8 ± 32.7) (b · min 1) 2 / Hz , P <0.05), while HF decreased more significantly (34.4 ± 11.4) (b · min 1) 2 / Hz vs (5.2 ± 12.4) (b · min 1) 2 / Hz, P < 0 .0 5〕. Conclusions Emergency training can make the heart sympathetic nerve excited, the vagus nerve inhibition and the heart rate variability reduce. The low dose Betaloc can improve the heart rate variability in emergency training and improve the balance of the sympathetic and vagal balance in the heart
