天堂寨位于大别山腹地的安徽省金寨县西南角,海拔1929米,是安徽省著名风景名胜旅游区和国家森林公园。到天堂寨旅游,无论从哪条线走都需要经过 100多公里的山区公路。6米宽的公路一侧是悬崖峭壁,一侧是万丈深渊,可谓山高路险。每天有千余名游客奔“天堂”而来。“五一”、“十一”黄金周期间,每天来天堂寨的车辆竟达600余辆。然而令人惊奇的是,如此险恶的道路环境,如此高的车辆流量,这里近10年未发生过伤亡人的道路交通事故。创造这个奇迹首先要归功于金寨县公安局交警大队四中队的全体民警。
