The rising cost of energy has become a key factor affecting the profitability of many mining investment projects. The U.S. Department of the Interior Open Air Mining Office is launching a study at the Michigan Technological University titled “The Impact of Increasing Energy Costs on the Future of Surface Mines or Underground Minerals.”
