Due to the continuous deepening of reform, there is a surplus of agricultural labor and a relatively insufficient labor force in urban enterprises. As a result, a large number of young peasants have poured into enterprises and caused the number and size of cities to expand continuously. The change of the share of young peasants in the workforce makes the composition of young workers change, and there is an increasing trend. According to statistics from relevant departments, nearly 60,000 men and women contract workers in Hangzhou in 1985 and further growth in 1986. Most of them are young people, distributed in construction, silk, textile, machinery and other industries. Yesterday’s peasants became today’s workers. What are their changes in their ideological concepts? What are the characteristics compared with urban youth workers? Recently, we investigated the situation of female peasant contract workers in the silk industry of our city and in the hometown of contract workers.
