1998年7月26日上午,在杭州灵隐禅寺大悲阁木鱼住持召集的罗汉青铜铸造评审会上,周如章的九尊罗汉获得了几乎众口一致的赞誉。这位既无职称,也未曾得到过任何荣誉称号的普通雕塑家,竟以有如此强大艺术震撼力的作品,感染了在场所有与会者,充分地展示出他的创作实力与价值。9月2日,我们在温州周如章的住处(也是他的工作场地)清竹斋采访了他。他并不侃侃而谈,却谈得入理、真切。座谈时间并不长,大部分时间是边看他的作品,边谈。
On the morning of July 26, 1998, at the review of the bronze casting of Lohan held by the Dasuyakamura in Hangzhou’s Lingyin Temple, the nine medals of Zhou Ruzhang received almost unanimous acclaim. The ordinary sculptor, who has neither title nor any honorary title, infected the presence of all the participants with such a powerful and artistic work, fully demonstrating his creative strength and value. On September 2, we interviewed him at Zhouzhuzhang’s residence in Wenzhou, also his workplace. He is not talkative, but talkative, real.
