1991年在河南安阳举行的第七届全国钓鱼比赛,第一次出现了台湾钓手的面孔。虽然两岸钓鱼接触已经3年,但交流范围偏窄,区域性的,以邀请赛和对抗赛形式出现。如1989年5月在杭州和北京举行海峡两岸钓鱼比赛,1990年9月无锡钓鱼协会十周年邀请赛等。这些比赛只要是计尾数,或者是池塘钓养殖鱼,大多是台湾钓手领先,甚至囊括所有名次,其上鱼之快让人耳目一新,由此而出现了一个新名词—台钓。
