文章主要通过对开埠前的天津港与东北沿海区域间的粮食、木植贸易和运输情况的考察,揭示开埠前的天津港已经与东北建立了广泛的贸易联系,但这种联系是在官方政策的限制内生发的,而政策的主线则是保证王朝维护贸易区域政治、社会的稳定等方面的考虑。区域间的贸易运贩的发展、壮大也符合官方政策的初衷,同时客观上维护了天津港在北方港口的中心地位,在促进天津传统城市的发展发面也起到了至关重要的作用。
