This patent is an improvement on the manufacture of mono-oriented silicon steel. This patent provides a process for producing a silicon steel with a single orientation by thin castings. This process of producing high quality electromagnetic silicon steel is considerably less than the rolling reduction used by the material in the conventional process. By continuously casting a thin steel strip, the present invention necessarily leads to a radical change in the general process of production from molten steel to refined products. That is to say that the chemical composition and the organization of the product are more homogeneous compared to the general method and that the invention is also due to the possibility of saving the main equipment and energy consumption due to the process comprising the continuous casting of slabs.
