Objective To investigate the effect of β blockers on heart rate variability (HRV) in patients with hypertension. Methods 44 patients with hypertension were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. The treatment group received metoprolol 50 ~ 100mg / d, the control group received conventional dose of compound antihypertensive tablets, 24hHolter data before and after treatment of two groups of HRV For comparative analysis. Results Compared with the control group, the HRV of the treatment group was significantly increased, the SDNN, SDANN and SONNinde in the time domain index were significantly increased (P <0.01), the LF content in the frequency domain index was significantly decreased and the HF content was significantly increased , LF / HF also decreased significantly (P <0.05 or <0.01). Conclusion β blockers can effectively improve the hypertensive HRV, which can help explain the beneficial effects of β blockers in patients with hypertension.
