1880 Norwegian dramatist Ibsen ’s “Doll House” on the screen, sounded the horn for the liberation of women, but also shocked the hearts of Chinese women after the May Fourth Movement. What is the status of women in Norway today, decades ago? Inge Hoem, cultural counselor of the Norwegian Embassy in China, recently raised this issue in his speech at the English Salon held by this newspaper. Today, seven women and 11 men among Norwegian women’s prime minister Brendan have established the status of women among the highest authorities in the country.
