顺德县是改革开放以来经济发展较快的一个县。1990年企业技术进步的速度为15.67%,对经济增长贡献率是51.5％,全县工农业总产值现行价为97.2亿元(按80年不变价为66.4亿元,其中工业产值61.8亿元),年均递增18.7％。财政收入4.19亿元,年销售值超千万元的工业企业203家,其中超亿元的14家,在全国十大乡镇企业中,顺德县占6家,镇以上工业企业全员劳动生产率为42291元/人年。
