刘祖洞教授是我国著名的人类遗传学家,1917年1月生于浙江镇海。1943年毕业于广西大学农学院农学系,获农学士学位。当年即进入浙江大学生物研究所,受教于著名遗传学家谈家桢教授,1945年获理学硕士学位。随后任浙江大学生物系助教、讲师。1949年赴美就读于密歇根大学动物系,由人类遗传学家Neel指导,于1952年获哲学博士学位。1953年回国,历任复旦大学生物系教员、副教授、教授。现任生物工程系遗传学教授,遗传学教研组主任,遗传学研究所人类和医学遗传研究室主任,博士研究生导师,复旦大学
Professor Liu Zudong is a famous human geneticist in China. He was born in Zhenhai, Zhejiang Province in January 1917. In 1943 graduated fromAgriculture Department of Guangxi UniversityAgricultural Department, Bachelor of Agriculture degree. That year into the Institute of Biology, Zhejiang University, taught by renowned geneticist Professor Tan Jiazhen, received a master’s degree in science in 1945. Then served as a teaching assistant at Zhejiang University Department of Biology, lecturer. In 1949 went to the United States to study at the University of Michigan Department of Veterinary, guided by the human geneticist Neel, in 1952, received a Ph.D. Returning to China in 1953, served as Fudan University Department of Biology teacher, associate professor and professor.
