At the invitation of Tianjin People’s Fine Arts Publishing House, “Liang Yan Ink Portrait Exhibition” and “Liang Yan Ink Portrait Art Seminar” were held on December 15, 1996 at the just-concluded Tianjin Renmex Exhibition Hall. The opening ceremony was presided over by Liu Jianping, president of Tianjin People’s United States. Li Shu-ren, director of Tianjin Press and Publication Bureau, cut the ribbon and delivered an opening speech. Zhang Deyu, vice chairman of Tianjin Artists Association, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of Tianjin’s fine arts community. In his speech, artist Liang Yan thanked Tianjin for his invitation and hoped to promote the art exchange between Hubei and Tianjin through this exhibition and played an academic and academic role in the development of Chinese portrait painting.
