著名数学家华罗庚(1910—1985)是江苏省金坛县人,虽然他只有初中学历,但在数学老师王维克的悉心指导下,跨进了数学王国的大门,最终成为世界著名数学家。王维克(1900—1952)也是金坛县人,早年在南京河海工程学校读书,后来因宣传反帝反封建思想而被学校开除,回到金坛县初级中学教数学,兼任华罗庚所在班的班主任。
Well-known mathematician Hua Luogeng (1910-1985) is a native of Jintan, Jiangsu Province. Although he only had junior high school education, he crossed the door of the mathematical kingdom with the careful guidance of math teacher Wang Weike and eventually became a world famous mathematician. Wang Weike (1900-1952) was also a native of Jintan where he studied early at Hohai Engineering School in Nanjing and was later expelled from the school for propaganda of anti-imperialist and anti-feudal ideology. He returned to Jintan County for teaching at junior high schools and became the teacher in charge of Hua Luogeng’s class .
