From a materialistic perspective, he is a complete failure, his life impoverished, depressed, and nothing. However, judging from the spiritual aspect, his adhering to goodness and love is indeed awe-inspiring. It is also a beautiful landscape today for the desolation of human spirit. Many Western scholars believe that many of Maurice’s poems were written for evasion of reality. However, if we read Morris’s related works carefully and examine their cultural contexts, we will find that they are not high-minded ones. Although he was not enough to be a prairie fire, the spark of the stars was already on the horizon and he might be a harbinger of Godod’s advent.
