福建省福清市地处台湾海峡西岸中部枢纽位置,中国著名侨乡。唐圣历二年(公元699年)设县,至今已有1311年历史。公元933年,从“山自永福里,水自清源里”一语中,取“福”与“清”二字,改县名为“福清”。1990年12月撤县建市。福清县域经济基本竞争力连续多年跻身“全国百强县市”前列,经济总量稳居福建省第二位,是海峡西岸经济区最具发展活力与魅力的地区之一。近年来,福清市旅游局大力实施项目、品牌、创新和服务带动,有效整合资源,不断创新理念,充分发掘福清独特的区位优势和侨乡优势,着力打造成集生态观光、休闲度假、温泉疗养等于一体的旅游胜地。
