平鲁县位于山西北部。全县总面积2314.4平方公里,人口密受每平方公里56人,耕地168.7万亩(其中纯耕地面积145.7万亩)。人均耕地12.9亩。由于历史上的大规模开荒扩耕,造成了严重的水土流失,现有水土流失面积305.5万亩,占总面积的88%。沟壑密度每平方公里4100米——6200米,侵蚀模数每平方公里4000——6000吨,全县年流失沙土总量1050.5万吨,约占雁北地区土沙流失量的四分之一。
Pinglu County is located in northern Shanxi.
