在英文中表示“虽然…但是,尽管…但”这类意思的时候,我们称之为让步(conces-sion)。下面简述一下表示让步的一些词语。一、Although 和 though尽管这两个连词在用法上往往一样,但还是有一些差别。Though 一般用于非正式的口语和书面语中,语气较弱,而 al-though 可以用于各种文体。当表示强调时,though 可以与 even 连用产生 eventhough 短语,而不能说 even although。另外 though 还可以用于部分倒装的结构里,表示非常强烈的对照,语气最强。例如:1.Although he was late,he stopped to buysome records.尽管他晚了,但还是停下来买了一些唱片。
