作为2001年APEC系列活动的重头戏,6月6日至7日在上海举行的贸易部长会议无疑对增强亚太地区乃至全世界的经贸合作将注入新的活力。它也是10月份举行的APEC第九次领导人非正式会议的重要准备性会议,而贸易投资自由化则是亚太经合组织成立以来讨论的最重要议题。 本次贸易部长会议着重讨论四个议题:一、奉行开放的贸易政策,对WTO启动新一轮谈判起到积极的推动作用;二、促进贸易投资的自由化和便利化。进一步落实去年领导人会议以后部长级会议对贸易投资工作的指示,并对下一步工作提出新的要求;三、加强亚太地区的经济技术合作,审议在经济合作领域各方的倡议,并就加强市场的功能进行讨论;四、通过讨论,以加强APEC成员在新经济
As the highlight of the APEC series in 2001, the trade ministers’ meeting held in Shanghai from June 6 to June 7 will undoubtedly inject new vitality into the economic and trade cooperation between the two sides in the Asia Pacific region and the world at large. It is also an important preparatory meeting for the ninth APEC informal leadership meeting in October, while trade and investment liberalization is the most important issue discussed since the founding of APEC. The Trade Ministers’ Meeting focused on four topics: First, pursuing an open trade policy and playing an active role in promoting the new round of WTO negotiations; Second, promoting the liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment. Further implement the ministerial-level conference’s directive on trade and investment after the summit of leaders last year and put forward new requirements on the next step; thirdly, strengthen economic and technological cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, consider all the parties’ initiatives in the field of economic cooperation and make recommendations on strengthening the Market function; Fourth, through discussion, to strengthen APEC members in the new economy
