1985年7月1日下午1时半,广东水电厅广东爆破工程公司承担的省府招待所大楼控制爆破准时安全起爆,仅4.5秒钟就将一座五层大楼拆除,爆破工程非常成功.这是我省首次、在国内也是控制爆破拆除城市建筑物规模最大的一次.广东省省长梁灵光、副省长李建安、广州市市长叶选平、副市长石安海、省府秘书长兼工程总指挥吕白、省市各有关部委办负责同志,以及国内知名爆破专家和其他工程界、新闻界人士,数以千计市民目击了这次爆破.在场的省市领导和群众对爆破成功赞不绝口.
