There is an article in the Analects of Confucius called Zi Zi Gong Wen. The original is written like this: Zi Gong asked “government ”. Son said: “Foot food, foot soldiers, the people of the letter carry on.” Son Gong said: “must go away, Yu Si three first? ” Said: “Zi Gong said: ”Said: “ said: ”to eat, since ancient times all have died, the people without a letter not stand. “ This dialogue is very interesting, A country, the key which need a few, of course, Zi Gong said the country and the present state, the concept is different. Sage's answer is very simple, only three: foot soldiers, adequate food, people's letter carry on. First, the country needs a mighty army to guarantee the integrity of its territory and the safety of its people. Second, there should be enough food for the people to get rich and sufficient food. Third, people should have faith in the country and the entire society should have credit. This student is very tricky, saying that three too much. If you have to remove one, what are you going to say first? Sage Kong said: ”We do not want this kind of force protection. Zi Gong asked, if you want to get rid of one, you say that you want to get rid of? SONG Confucius after a long period of deep thought, and then told him seriously: “Eat. ” We would rather not eat. Then he added and emphasized “Letter,” saying: “There have been deaths since ancient times, and people have no confidence.” "No food is nothing more than starving to death. Not the most horrible. The most horrible thing is that this country has lost its faith and society has lost its credibility.
