为了加强农业科技和生产的信息交流,帮助农业科技人员和生产部门及时了解国内外农业科技信息及最新的农业科技发展动态,加强与国内外同行之间的联系,加快农业科技的发展,上海市农业科学院制定了建立本院局域网的规划,并得到上海市科委的支持。现代信息技术,高度发达的交通设施以及国际间金融保险的高度聚集,是国际大都市发展的重要物质基础。为迎接21世纪的挑战,适应现代科学技术飞速发展的形势,树立上海国际大都市的形象,上海市政府已全面启动“上海信息港”的建设。“上海科技网”是“上海信息港”工程中首批实施的重点项目之一,也是上海市在“九五”期间为加快科技进步而实施的标志性重点科技工程。上海科技网覆盖全市研究开发机构、政府管理部门及企事业单位,成为上海科技界和政府管理部门的科技人员与公务员提供社会网络化的信息资源环境和进行现代化通讯联系的重要全台渠道,从而大大提高上海科技信息交流
