一、参加革命前的复杂经历我于1905年出生于榆次西墕村,今年已届88岁.我上无兄姊,下无弟妹,是十亩地里一株谷——独苗苗.生母在我出世不久病逝.父亲不务正业,整日不回家,我孤苦伶仃无法在家生活,在本村小学读了几年《四书》、《五经》后,于1920年(15岁)离家出走,去太谷县东来当、榆次晋昌转运公司、平地泉裕发银行、方山县油面行等几个商号学徒、经商,先后共计15年.1935年我30岁时,到榆次城阎锡山政权所属的警察局当了警察.
