[Objective] To explore the relationship between self-consistency and mental health and coping styles of military postgraduates. [Methods] A total of 380 graduate students from a military engineering college were investigated by SCCS, SCL-90 and SCSQ. According to the standard of self-consistency scale The subjects were divided into low-score group (≤74) and high-score group (≥103), and the differences of mental health and coping style between the two groups were compared. [Results] The overall self-consistency degree of postgraduates in military schools was good. Compared with the norm of college students, their disharmony was lower than that of the norm (P <0.001), and their flexibility was higher than that of the norm (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in the stereotypes SC SC-90 scores of SCL-subgroups were lower than those of high scores and negative scores were higher than those of high scores (P <0.001). [Conclusion] The degree of self-harmony has a significant effect on mental health and coping styles. Promoting the self-harmony of postgraduates in military schools helps to improve their mental health level and takes a positive and flexible way to deal with the problems.
