We examined the time distribution of paleoseismic records in several areas of California from decades to hundreds of thousands of years. The age data obtained from the age-stabilized method of electron spin resonance of fault slurries and the record of ~ (14) C age-related sediments and historical earthquakes in the fault zone were used in the analysis. The history records in the San Andres Fault in central California and the paleoseoseismic records in the San Gabriel fault zone have self-similar characteristics with a fractal dimension of 0.43-0.46. On the historical earthquakes and paleoearthquakes, the fractal dimension of the San Andrés fault zone in southern California was 0.67, indicating more uniform fault activity than in central California. In less than a year’s time scale, a large degree of distribution is random.
