处在世纪之交的中华大地,一段时间以来,“迎接新世纪”、“迎接千禧年”成为流行语,男女老幼、工农商学兵,几乎都是不绝于口。堪与这些语者之众的流行语相媲美,“知识经济”也不绝于耳,成为当代语汇新创的又一亮点,并且言之凿凿。仿佛和新千禧年、新世纪一样,会如期而至降临在神州大地。其实,这只能是一个良好的愿望而已,更何况,即使新千禧年、新世纪也不可能同时莅临我们生活的地球上的每个角落。由于众所周知的时差原因,生活在地球不同角落的人们甚至于在相差几乎近24小时不等的时间间隔见到新千禧年、新世纪的第一缕阳光,更何况知识经济这样非时序的社会事物呢!资本经济的萌芽绽放在16世纪的大英帝国的土地,但它发展的鼎盛时期则大约在200后的18世纪的工业革命发生之时。又一个200年后的今天,全球还有那么多的第三世界发展中国家至今仍徘徊在资本经济的大门之外。作为更高发展阶段的知识经济,是脱胎于资本经济的新的经济体系,它仰仗资本经济的营养和生存条件。没有必备的水到渠成的客观条件,知识经济不会从天而降。《知识经济·知识经济时代及其他》一文,就是试图以回溯人类社会发展的历史角度入手,让读者从中悟出,只有积淀我们的经济实力、只有全民族的科学素质的提高和知识创新意识的加强并取得实实在在的科技成果来,知识经济才会向我们走来。
