中日两国历史上的宗教交流和僧人互访互学为中日两国人民建立深厚情谊作出了巨大的贡献。在宁波与日本的友谊史上,日本高僧荣西是一位杰出的代表。日本高僧荣西(公元1141-1251年)14岁出家,到比睿山受戒。比睿山当时为日本天台宗传播佛学的最高学府,高僧云集。荣西在21岁时便立志来宋朝学习。他于宋孝宗乾道四年(公元1168年)四月搭乘商船来到中国,由明州上岸后到天台宋的发祥地天台山国清寺朝拜,并到宁波阿育王寺膜拜佛祖舍利塔。由明州回国时,带回天台宗的佛经章疏多卷。十九年后,他发愿要往印度求“教外别传之宗”(即禅宗)。有人告诉他,天台山万年寺禅宗大师虚庵卓有修养,可以拜师参学。于是,荣西就第二次来到中国,从虚庵怀敞大师(黄龙宗第七世)学习佛教禅宗,并写下了一首深情的谒师诗:海外精兰特特来,青山迎我笑颜开。
The religious exchanges between China and Japan in history and the exchange of visits by monks made great contributions to the establishment of deep friendship between the peoples of China and Japan. In the history of the friendship between Ningbo and Japan, Rongxi, a Japanese monk, is an outstanding representative. Japanese monk Rongxi (AD 1141-1251) a 14-year-old monk, to Hirakata disciples. When returning from the state of Ming Zhou, back to the Tiantai Zong Shu Zhang Shu volume volume. Nineteen years later, he vowed to go to India to seek “teachings and legends” (ie, Zen). Someone told him that Zen master of Tiantai Mountain Temple of Zen Buddhism is capable of practicing Buddhism. As a result, Rongxi came to China for the second time, studying Buddhist Zen from the Great Master Ungram (Huanglongzong VII) and wrote an affectionate guru poem: Overseas Terry Grant, Aoyama Ying I smile.
