籼稻比粳稻有利于二化螟的生长发育。杂交稻对三化螟和二化螟的生长发育都比常规籼稻有利,取食杂交稻的种群繁殖率可超过食常规籼稻的1~2倍。水稻品种生长期的长短,及其生长发育各阶段,与各地稻螟各世代各虫态的对应状况,是稻螟种群盛、衰的关键。对应状况适宜于稻螟为害繁殖时,其种群数量可数十倍于不适宜时的种群数量。研究水稻品种与稻螟种群消长的关系,应着重研究、协调各地水稻苗情与稻螟虫情的对应状况。
