掌握一个单词是一项复杂的课题,某种意义上说,它意味着能认识一个单词或一个词汇单元,并了解其意义。对于许多学习者来说,所谓掌握一个单词仅限于能将它译成母语,因而形成日常学生对于双语词典的依赖。但我们究竟是否应该把一个单词仅作为一个独立的个体来掌握,还是只需了解它在文本或完整话语环境中的功能?抑或两者的结合?词典中应该怎样最好地传达这类信息呢?要完整地教会一个单词,并能准确积极地使用它,至少应该知道:1.它的发音与拼写;2.它的语法特征;3.它是否属于多种语法类别;
Mastering a word is a complex subject, in the sense that it means recognizing a word or a lexical unit and understanding its meaning. For many learners, the so-called mastery of a word is limited to being able to translate it into a native language, thus forming a daily student’s dependence on bilingual dictionaries. But how exactly should we grasp a word as an isolated individual, or simply understand its function in a textual or complete discourse environment, or a combination of the two? How best to convey such information in a dictionary? To complete a church and to use it accurately and actively, you should at least know: 1. its pronunciation and spelling; 2. its grammatical features; 3. whether it belongs to more than one grammatical category;
