在云南,陆路、水路加铁路的海关,河口是独一份儿。流传甚广的“云南十八怪”之一的“火车不通国内通国外”,说的就是河口。如今,历史上著名的滇越铁路(米轨铁路)仍在使用。河口县是少数民族聚居的亚热带河谷地区,地形以山地为主,平均气温22．6度, 最高气温可达40．9℃,平均相对湿度达 85％。河口县与越南老街省省会谷柳市隔南溪河、红河相望,一衣带水,鸡犬之声相闻, 边境线长193公里,现有桥头纸厂、坝洒、山腰3个省级边境通道。早在1897年,河口就设立了海关。今年109岁高龄的河口海关隶属于昆明
