母生(Homalium hainanense Gagnep)又名红花天料木,产于海南岛,以屯昌、澄迈两县栽培历史悠久。天然分布在热带山地常绿季雨林和沟谷雨林中,于海拔800米以下的山腰下部和山谷中散生。母生要求温暖湿润、排水良好的环境条件和土层深厚、疏松、肥沃、保水能力强的土壤,p~H值5.5—6.5为宜。目前全岛栽植的母生人工林约5万余亩,由于对母生的生态习性和生物学特性了解不够,未能做到适地适树,致使有些栽培区的林木因立地条件差,过早地出现了衰退,
Mother (Homalium hainanense Gagnep), also known as safflower day wood, produced in Hainan Island, Tunchang, Chengmai two counties have a long history of cultivation.
