Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of livin and P53 in gastric cancer and paracancerous tissues. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of livin and P53 protein in 40 gastric cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues. Results The positive rates of livin and P53 protein in gastric cancer tissues were 47.5% and 52.5%, respectively. The positive rates of livin and P53 protein in gastric cancer tissues were 5.0% and 12.5%, respectively, with statistical significance (P <0.05) The positive expression rates of livin and P53 in stage Ⅲ + Ⅳ gastric cancer were higher than those in stage Ⅰ + Ⅱ (P <0.05). The positive rates of livin in gastric cancer tissues were higher than those in gastric cancer tissues without lymph node metastasis (P <0.05) There was no correlation between protein expression (P> 0.05). Conclusion The abnormal expression of livin and P53 protein is related to the malignant biological behavior of gastric cancer. The expression of livin and P53 protein is important for judging the prognosis of gastric cancer clinically.
