“,”Pollution caused by widely used polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) has become a global problem. PBDEs could enter the body through dietary intake, breathing and skin absorption, and can be transmitted to fetus and newborn through placenta and breastmilk. The assessment of maternal exposure level of PBDEs during pregnancy and its impact on fetal development have gained increasing attention in maternal and fetal medicine and environmental science. This article reviews the effects of maternal exposure to PBDEs on the development of offspring and its mechanisms.
