In this paper, a multi-case study is used to study how the union factors affect the cross-border mergers and acquisitions of Chinese companies and attempts to construct theories. The study found that in the face of being acquired, due to the asymmetry of information and concerns about uncertainty, trade unions often question or oppose mergers and acquisitions. Under normal circumstances, there is a positive correlation between mergers and acquisitions and trade unions in the long-term development of the company and the interests of employees, and unions have a positive attitude towards mergers and acquisitions. The paper also finds that the degree of importance attached to the potential role of the trade union organization, the extent to which trade unions participate in the merger and acquisition process, and the degree of communication with the trade union organization are positively correlated with the effect of mergers and acquisitions.
