The gap junction is a common hydrophilic channel among the cells that make up multicellular organs. It mediates the decrease and loss of cell-to-cell communication and plays a role in cell proliferation, leading to the tumor. Connexin is the basic structure and functional protein that make up the gap junctional channel. The quantity and type of connexin are different in the development of brain tissue.
