大别山区发展缓慢,贫困人口比例较高,是国家确定进行扶贫的连片特困地区之一。据了解,大别山区贫困有历史的和自然的原因,有人的素质和观念方面的原因,也有长期以来国家对这地区发展的重视不够和扶持不力的问题。具体到一家一户,致贫的原因五花八门,有的因为缺少劳力,有的因缺少耕地,有的因自然灾害,有的因患病或残疾,有的因供养子女读书等。多数贫困户虽不缺劳力,但又因缺文化或缺技术、缺资金、缺项目,想脱贫也不能实现。 The slow development of the Dabie Mountains and the high proportion of poor people are one of the contiguous destitute areas identified by the state for poverty alleviation.
