Chinese medicine and Chinese Herbal Pieces are essential components of the essential medicines catalog and are the concentrated expression of the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine in China’s basic medicines system. However, basic medicines known as “safe, necessary, effective and inexpensive” often appear in short supply. It is generally believed that most proprietary Chinese medicines are made up of compounds, which are diversified in flavor and taste. They can complement each other’s prices. In addition, the prices of Chinese medicines are volatile. Short-term gains will also fall. Therefore, the shortage is not very serious. However, the phenomenon of soaring and plunging prices of Chinese medicine is widespread. As a result, manufacturers have stopped producing proprietary Chinese medicines from time to time. The impact of short-term increases on the quality of inputs should not be overlooked. The necessity and feasibility of establishing the early warning method for the supply of essential drugs of traditional Chinese medicine through the national survey of Chinese traditional medicine resources were discussed. The demonstration and demonstration of compound salvia miltiorrhiza as an example were discussed.
