目前,一些小型厂房、商业售货棚以及食堂、车库、仓库等建筑物,常常采用轻型钢屋架作为屋盖的承重结构。这种屋架有自重轻,用料省,取材容易,制造安装方便,节点构造简单,技术经济效果好等优点。但是,由于对其特性掌握不够,有的地方和部门,不管材质是否符合要求,不做认真的设计计算,随意焊接起来就用于工程,以至造成许多事故。据近三年不完全统计,在屋盖倒塌事故中,轻型钢屋架倒塌占一半以上。因此,必须引起重视。
