2016年12月2日,美国众议院通过《2017财年国防授权法案》,将美台资深军事将领与官员交流条款写入其中。12月8日,美国参议院表决通过了该法案。12月23日,美国总统奥巴马签署了法案。台湾当局欢欣鼓舞急忙向美国道谢,美国国内也众说纷纭。冷静思考,这次事件有三点值得关注。一是相关条款并非首次列入法案,但以往都未能最终形成法律。这次由美国参众两院通过的《2017财年国防授权法案》中,与台美军事交流有关章节在该法案
On December 2, 2016, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the FY 2017 National Defense Authorization Act to include terms for the exchange of senior military officers and officials of the United States and Taiwan. On December 8, the U.S. Senate voted to pass the bill. December 23, US President Barack Obama signed the bill. Taiwan authorities rejoice and hurry to thank the United States, the United States also have different opinions. Calm thinking, there are three things worth attention.
