图书资料是图书馆用以开展正常工作,实现其社会职能的物质基础.在高等学校中,图书资料则是教学与科学研究工作赖以进行的重要工具.图书馆如果没有一定数量与一定质量的藏书,就无法保证教学与科研工作的顺利进行.而要确保这两项工作正常进行,就必须搞好藏书的剔除工作.因此,普通高校图书馆在藏书建设中,除应注意收集补充藏书外,更应注意提高藏书的利用率,做好藏书的剔除工作.
