In order to become the largest uranium producer in the world, Lake-based mining companies need to build a state-of-the-art hydrometallurgical plant that will not only produce 5,400 tons of U_3O_8 annually, but also produce more efficiently. Keelung Hydro-Metallurgical Works has identified a number of innovations that have been carried out, including the removal of radium from plants, the abolition of wastewater sedimentation tanks and the construction of a new watertight tailings dam that will keep hydroxides stable. Keelung Hydro-Metallurgical Plant is equipped with facilities for the production of yellowcake from all stages of primary ore breakage to tailings disposal. The plant consists of six interconnected units, coordinated by a digital control system configured by Fisher Provox. Six units are broken and ground; leaching and countercurrent decanting; solution pretreatment and solvent extraction; yellow cake precipitation and drying; bulk neutralization and tail
