1999年,中国公众多媒体宽带联网工程的建设,开启了我国宽带发展的历程。在电话线窄带拨号上网时代,仅仅几十K的带宽难以满足人们对网络的需求,即使是简单的浏览新闻和接收邮件也需要足够耐心。但经过网络改造和技术升级之后,普通家庭接入的ADSL宽带速率已经达到了2M。宽带速度的突破,也带来了宽带应用的重大突破:从最初人们眼中遥不可及的奢侈品到进入寻常百姓家,宽带正深入社会生活各个领域,宽带应用日益贴近人们的生活需求。从通过QQ、MSN和亲朋好友亲密沟通,到随时通过宽带互联网在线收看视频,下载热门的影片、音乐。宽带应用正在给人们的生活带来更精彩的网络体验。中国电信作为宽带业务市场上的主导力量,正手持宽带彩练,舞动宽带应用,演绎时尚新生活。本刊编发这篇文章,力图与读者共同回顾中国电信走过的宽带发展历程,展示中国电信为客户创造宽带价值的成果。
